A recent survey conducted by New Navigator has revealed that a majority of Americans are in strong opposition to the health care policies outlined in Project 2025, a conservative blueprint for a potential second term for former President Donald Trump. The findings show that 83 percent of respondents are against the idea of removing protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions, while 81 percent oppose the proposal to impose a new tax on health insurance for people who receive coverage through their employer. Additionally, 80 percent of those surveyed are against the notion of banning Medicare from negotiating lower prices and eliminating the $35 monthly cap on insulin.
This latest poll is just one of many conducted by Navigator that have consistently shown that President Biden and Democrats are perceived as being more trustworthy when it comes to health care issues. The results also indicate that there is strong support among voters for efforts to reduce inflation, including the Inflation Reduction Act and Democratic initiatives aimed at lowering health care costs. These efforts include allowing Medicare to negotiate lower prices for prescription drugs, capping the cost of insulin, and providing free vaccines.
Furthermore, the survey data suggests that a majority of Americans believe that the policies outlined in Project 2025 would primarily benefit the wealthiest Americans, CEOs, and corporations, while having a negative impact on other groups such as small businesses and the middle class.
In light of these findings, it is clear that there is a significant divide between public opinion and the proposed health care policies in Project 2025. As discussions around health care reform continue to evolve, it will be important for policymakers to consider the concerns and priorities of the American people in order to create policies that truly address their needs and preferences.
